Definition: Costs your conveyancer pays to someone else on your behalf — such as searches, Land Registry fees and property tax — and passes on to you.

They are separate from the firm's own legal fee. Official fees such as HM Land Registry's registration fee carry no VAT, while some search providers charge VAT. Solicitors' firms must list the likely disbursements when they publish conveyancing prices.
