Accessibility
We’re working towards full conformance with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines 2.2 at Level AA.
What we do
- Semantic HTML with a single
<h1>per page and a logical heading order. - Visible focus states on every interactive element.
- A skip-to-content link at the top of every page.
- Text contrast that meets AA contrast ratios across the site palette.
- No autoplaying audio or video. No flashing content.
- Zero-JS rendering of every guide — the content works even with JavaScript disabled.
- Generous tap targets (at least 44 × 44 CSS pixels) on touch devices.
Known limitations
We continually audit the site and welcome feedback. If you find a page that isn’t accessible to you, please let us know via the contact page and we’ll fix it as a priority.
Enforcement
The Equality and Human Rights Commission (EHRC) is responsible for enforcing the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) Accessibility Regulations 2018 in the UK. If you’re unhappy with our response to a complaint, you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service.
