Definition: England and Northern Ireland's tax on property purchases. Scotland uses LBTT and Wales uses LTT instead.

Charged on the portion of the purchase price falling within each band. A 5% surcharge applies to additional dwellings (second homes, buy-to-let). Non-UK residents pay a further 2% surcharge. First-time buyer relief applies below set thresholds.
