Definition: The UK regulator for gas and electricity markets in Great Britain. Sets the quarterly energy price cap for default tariffs.

Ofgem licenses suppliers, manages the Supplier of Last Resort process, runs the Warm Home Discount, and enforces obligations around vulnerable customers and smart meters. Northern Ireland is regulated separately by the Utility Regulator.
