How do I change the name on my British passport?

In short: Apply for a replacement passport with the evidence HMPO requests. For a deed-poll change, provide evidence of earlier name changes and of using the new name. Marriage certificates can support some changes, including double-barrelled marriage surnames.

Read GOV.UK's passport name-change instructions and use the route for your circumstances. A driving-licence update is not a universal first step; a payslip or local council letter can be evidence of using a name.
