Marriage and double-barrelled surnames
HM Passport Office explicitly accepts marriage or civil partnership certificates for a double-barrelled name after the ceremony. Read the official marriage guidance before buying a deed. A newly blended surname or other unrelated change may need different evidence.

Before applying: a practical document check
Confirm that your intended name is spelled consistently on the application, change-of-name evidence and proof of use. Gather documents for earlier names, any other passports and the original documents requested by the application. Keep a private record of what you send.
