Definition: Enquiries your conveyancer makes about a property with the council, water company and others, to find problems that would not show up on a viewing.

A typical purchase includes a local authority search, a drainage and water search and an environmental search, with others depending on the area. Mortgage lenders usually require searches. The prices are set by the providers, so check the figure in your quote.
