PIP (Personal Independence Payment)

Definition: A non-means-tested benefit for adults under State Pension age with a long-term disability or health condition, paid in two components: daily living and mobility.

Each component is paid at a standard or enhanced rate based on a points assessment. Tax-free and ignored for the benefit cap. Replaced in Scotland by Adult Disability Payment (ADP) run by Social Security Scotland.
