In short: £26.05 a week for the eldest child, £17.25 a week per additional child. The High Income Child Benefit Charge starts at £60,000 of income.
Child Benefit rates for 2026/27 are £26.05 a week for the eldest or only child and £17.25 a week for each additional child. It is paid every four weeks.
From April 2024 the High Income Child Benefit Charge starts when the higher-earning parent's adjusted net income exceeds £60,000, and the full amount of Child Benefit is clawed back at £80,000. Below £60,000 there is no charge.
Even if you opt out of payment to avoid the charge, registering for Child Benefit gives you National Insurance credits towards your State Pension while you are caring for a child under 12.
